Teignmouth January litter pick and nature walk

Despite cold and wet conditions the January Teignmouth beach clean went ahead on Sunday 29 January as planned. In addition to a hardy gang of volunteer pickers, Richard Ash, who joined us as a guest geologist in November returned to be our rock hound, helping identify the pebbles, rocks and fossils we encountered. I joined Richard to help identify the shells and animal parts we found on the beach.

Our theme this month was ‘The Weather’, and there was plenty of it! But, the cold and damp didn’t dampen our spirits. We were also joined by more pickers en-route so ended with more people that we started. Continue reading

Teignmouth January beach litter and weather walk

Teignmouth volunteer beach litter pickers will be meeting for their monthly tidy-up at the Lighthouse (Nearest car park, the Point) at 11:30am on Sunday January 29.

This month, our theme is the weather. Our regular wildlife expert, Howie Watkins, will be on hand to talk about how the seasons affect the wildlife we see on the coast and estuary. He’ll also be looking at how we can read the weather conditions to predict whether there’s good or bad weather coming. Continue reading
